Rolling Mill
Celsa Armeringsstål produces hot rolled reinforcing bars and coils, and wire rod in a combined rolling mill.
Continuous cast billets - 160 mm. sq. - from the steel works are preheated in a heating furnace to achieve the correct rolling temperature. (1150°C) After rolling the temperature is reduced to approx 1000°C before controlled accelerated cooling.
Rolling of reinforcing bars
The 160 mm. square billets are reduced to reinforcing bars 10 to 40 mm, in up to18 rolling stands dependant on dimension. Dimensions up to 16 mm. are split rolled.
CoolingThe reinforcing bars are quenched and self tempered - using the Tempcore process. This gives the reinforced material a high quality performance.
Cutting/bundlingThe products are cut in length of 5 to 18 meter to customer?s request, and are delivered in 1 to 3 tonnes bundles. The finished products are transported to an indoor storehouse before shipment.
Rolling of rebar in coils and wire rod
Wire rod and rebar in coil are produced in a rod mill in diameter range from 5.5 to 16 mm. The rolling speed is up to 100 m/sec. Numbers of rolls depends on product diameter. Coil weight 1800 KGs. For recoiled material the coil weight is up to 3000 KGs.
CoolingThe wire rod is controlled cooled in 5 cooling boxes and thereafter air cooled on a cooling bed. The reinforcing coils are quenched and self tempered - using the Tempcore process.
Bundling/storingThe bundling equipment can handle 6 bundles simultaneously. Wire rod in 1800 KGs bundles and rebars up to 3000 KGs bundles are transported to an indoor storehouse before shipment.
StraighteningStraight re-bars in dimension 6 mm and 8 mm is delivered as straightened from re-bar in coils. The lengths are from 4 meters up to 12 meters.
